A brilliant nursery, great teachers, run superbly and has helped develop my children into great children, was a great choice 18 months ago. Friendly and welcoming always. Explains why so many of my friends want to send their children to ACN
My daughter has been at ACN for around 3 months now since she was 5/6 months old. She was one of the youngest in the room and her development has come on leaps and bounds since being there. Simone and the team in the yellow room are amazing and I feel so comfortable leaving my baby there. Hallie always has a smile on her face when I drop her off and pick her up and when we walk through the door she is so excited to be there.
At the end of every day we get a useful report detailing her activities/ sleeping / eating and toilet times.
Amy and Jodi have been very accommodating and definitely helped us out over the last few weeks to get more sessions in as work gets busier and I can't thank everybody at ACN involved in Hallie's care enough. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
I have friends that are very happy with ACN so I'm sure that it does offer a good service but we received a very poor settling in session for our baby. We felt that very little effort was made to find out about our child and we were told that the staff are often too busy to facilitate activities. Perhaps it was a bad day but it resulted in us not feeling confident in leaving our baby at ACN. We decided to pull our baby out and found a different childcare provider. ACN then charged us £400 (£200 on top of the deposit). My advice to new customers would be to read the contract very carefully. There is nothing detailing protection for the client if they are dissatisfied with the service and ACN charge an extremely large amount of money if you pull out (even if unhappy with the service). What we paid was actually discounted so it would be an even larger cost without them agreeing to discount anything! I recommend doing the settling in session before paying. Could save you a huge amount of money if you are unhappy with it!
My twin boys have been attending ACN since they were 11 months old when I returned to work part time.
It was a worrying time for me; I was looking forward to working again but fearful of leaving our boys, worried that I'd made the right decision, concerned how they'd settle - the usual mum guilt! But honestly, ACN have been fabulous and my worries have been fully allayed.
Since starting out in yellow room, our boys have been truly nurtured, looked after and cared for by the staff in a truly genuine manner. The staff really got to know the boys well and spent a long time getting to know me, too, meaning leaving them was much less of an ordeal than I feared because I trusted Simone and her team.
Now the boys have moved up a room, they are still just as looked after and nurtured and I admire and appreciate all the activities the boys do during the day - from indoor to outdoor play, reading, singing, making things, imaginative play and much more. I also love the way I can see the observations made by staff that link to the EYFS curriculum.
Jodi and Amy are incredibly supportive and have gone the extra mile on a few occasions to help me out, for which we are very grateful.
A huge thank you to all at ACN. Boyos will see you next week and they'll miss you whilst I'm on maternity leave again but they'll look forward to making a return in the not too distant future xxx
I have been meaning to write a review for a while and to say a BIG thank you to everyone in the red room (and Jodi and Amy too!). We have been so impressed with ACN, the environment, organisation and attitude of everyone is wonderful and we feel that our little girl is well looked after and cared for when she is there. Would highly recommend!!
As a first time mum, I was feeling all the guilt about returning to work and sending my daughter to nursery for long days! After stretching my mat leave out for as long as possible - she started just after her 1st birthday and 2 months later she is having the time of her life!!
I chose ACN for location, opening hours and the above and beyond facilities! All the staff have been amazing - very caring and supportive - thank you!
As recommended by Jodi - we started slowly by building up session times on her nursery days - this helped us both adjust and for her immune system to adapt! I can't say it was easy at first but with time the nursery speaks for itself.
The nursery have taken one big stress out of returning to work - I know she is in safe hands and is well fed and watered!! There is so much stimulation and fun to be had there - the structure of their days and variety of rooms/outdoor space available means it hard for her to get bored. She's been on walks and to the park, done lots of painting and messy play! I also feel confident knowing there are cuddles or down time if she needs it. It's nice to get photos on the tapestry app and track how the staff feel she is developing! After the initial shock of starting - she is now blossoming and has become so much more confident and independent!
Can highly recommend ACN
I was exceptionally nervous about sending my little one to nursery when she started last May. Among other things she has an extremely rare condition that results in problems with her swallowing making eating difficult, she was also in an out of hospital a lot for her first 15 months prior to starting nursery. ACN have been fantastic, they've taken the time to read all the info I've given them and arranged sit down sessions with her keyworker/room leader to make sure they understand her various issues and how to manage her eating and warning signs etc. For her first few months they introduced an enhanced communication system so I could advise them of any new issues/what times she needed medication etc. They understand the food she can and can't eat and blend her meals if needed (even though she's nearly two), supervise her one-to-one at mealtimes and if she won't eat their food they move onto trying the food I've put in her bag. When I come and pick her up they give me a full report of her day and take care to tell me what she's eaten. My daughter has just moved up rooms and I was impressed the room leader Fiona spent a good 45mins or so with me and my husband to go through all of my daughters details, even though she'd had a good handover from other staff.
There was a time when I thought I'd only trust my parents and husband to look after my daughter, but it is absolutely fantastic and a thorough relief to have ACN looking after her too!! The staff have been wonderful.
On to the ' normal' nursery things - my little one is settled and enjoys ACN . I always get a "yay!" in the morning when I say we're going (even though she's still a little shy when we first arrive). She loves the outdoor play area and the soft play is a massive bonus which she also loves! I'm always impressed with how clean and well kept the nursery looks (and this was a big draw when I first looked around. Given she'd been so ill prior to starting nursery the last thing I needed was her picking up tonnes of extra bugs). The online Tapestry system is great and I really love regularly seeing pictures and comments about how she's doing. Finally, although availability can be limited as it is a popular nursery, Jodi and Amy always try and fit us in/change things around for us if we need it when they can.
My son has attended Abbeydale Cottage Nursery for the past 5 months, having moved from another nursery. We were initially apprehensive as to how he would settle in with the changes and new environment, but it has been a wonderful experience for him from day one and he couldn’t be happier.
The nursery is warm and welcoming and everyone always has a smile! The staff are all very enthusiastic and put a lot of time and effort into organising activities for the children. The staff and owners are also very approachable and helpful in discussing any issues.
We have noticed significant progress with his language development and understanding and his confidence has improved too. He has also made some wonderful friends.
We would not hesitate to recommend this nursery to anyone.
Our 2.5 year old son moved to ACN in October and has loved it from his very 1st visit. It is a nurturing, caring, fun and happy place to be.
It is purpose built with great facilities including a great indoor soft play area on 2 levels that our son loves. There is access to the large playing fields attached to Abbeydale Sports club for extra outdoor fun and games.
All of the staff are welcoming, friendly and very caring. They familiarise themselves with each child and accommodate depending on needs.
I cannot recommend this nursery highly enough.
Thank you to your fabulous team.
Abbeydale Cottage nursery is in a brilliant purpose built building which is light and very spacious with excellent facilities throughout. It is beautifully decorated, mostly with the children's brightly coloured artwork. All staff are friendly and welcoming and seem very happy to be there, which creates a very warm environment for both parents and children. Even though my daughter only attends one day a week she settled in immediately and always enjoys her time here. Activities are varied and they even have a soft play area which children love.
Either Jodi or Amy always available to chat and are very accommodating at short notice for extra hrs etc.
I would have no hesitations in recommending this nursery.
Our daughter has attended this nursery for 6 months and thoroughly enjoys her time here. Working within a childcare teaching team, I have visited many settings throughout Sheffield and I believe the facilities and staff here are outstanding. My daughter is developing at a good pace and I am informed twice a week of her progress via an online observation program 'Tapestry', which nice to be able to access during my working day.
Abbeydale Cottage Nursery is a wonderful place. It's clean, modern, spacious and a very warm and welcoming environment for little ones with it's rainbow staircase and wildlife murals in the soft play area. Every room is incredibly well thought out, bright and inviting with a wide range of engaging equipment.
The staff are all friendly, professional and extremely helpful.
My daughter left her previous nursery for Abbeydale Cottage Nursery when she was just one and the transformation was amazing, she came on leaps-and-bounds developmentally and socially and she continues to do so. She loves nursery, the staff, the excellent quality meals and the wide range of activities that keep her busy and entertained throughout the day.
Our three year old has been attending Abbeydale Cottage Nursery for the past year and has had a fantastic experience.
His transition was well managed enabling him to steadily get used to his new surroundings and develop a relationship with his keyworker Kim, who has been excellent at supporting him ever since.
Amy and Jodi allayed any concerns we had sending our first child into a new environment and the security at the nursery further added to our confidence he would be safe in their hands.
Initial verbal and written feedback requested by the nursery was very detailed and assured us that his individual needs and preferences would be considered and accommodated.
The nursery is always very clean and organised and has excellent facilities including a soft play area, which is our son’s current favourite space.
Activities are creative and engaging, encouraging the children to flourish both within the nursery and on short excursions when the weather allows.
The Tapestry system allows parents to keep abreast of day-to-day events at the nursery and rewards such as looking after Pippa the Panda make the children feel special allowing them to share their lives outside nursery by documenting their time with Pippa in her diary.
Communication has been very good; each day feedback is given covering what the child has been doing, their toilet visits and what they have eaten benefitting good daily transitions.
Our son has built a large network of friends and has had a very positive experience overall. It is a credit to the staff at Abbeydale Cottage Nursery that they are able to create a friendly, inclusive and warm community in which the children can thrive.
Our three year old twins Leo and Sophie both love ACN and describe Sue and Nikita as their "best friends". We lived overseas and the relocation wasn't easy but ACN provided stability an an environment they relaxed into very quickly. Would recommend
Our 20 month old has been attending Abbeydale Cottage Nursery since he was 12 months and he has a great time! The staff are friendly and inviting towards the parents and clearly forge good relationships with the kids. Our son walks into nursery at 7:30 without looking back and it's sometimes a challenge to get him away from some of the toys and activities when we leave, a great relief to see him so happy there.
There are always different activities, useful daily reports on what kind of day your child has had as well as a fantastic app where notifications are posted on your child's progress, milestones they are hitting and generally quite funny goings on of a 20 month old!
Great nursery, would recommend it highly.
Our little one Sam (17 months old) has been going to Abbeydale Cottage Nursery since he was 10 months old. He goes on Tuesday's and Wednesdays.
We had the inevitable sense of dread at leaving him there to start off with. However with the help of the tester hours and days, all of our concerns were quashed. Sam now goes for really long days from 7 till 5 and the nursery are really accommodating of these longer days, giving him his breakfast in the morning and tea before we collect him.
Sam really loves it there now and both me and my wife actually look forward to the little bit of time we spend there, dropping him off or picking him up because it is such a lovely atmosphere. There’s always lots of friendly, smiley faces there to greet us and Sam always really enjoys himself.
We particularly love the Tapestry App which the nursery use to give updates on how he is getting on and measure his progress against EYFS framework standards. The app is really secure so there’s nothing to worry about there.
They have a great soft play room in which Sam is in his element. In general the nursey looks lovely, the staff are fantastic and we feel more than confident leaving our boy there.
Lily has been at nursery for 5 months now and absolutely loves it! It has a super atmosphere and fantastic facilities. The staff are so kind, supportive and nurturing. Lily is only 3 1/2 but since attending the nursery has started to form letters, refer to phonics and form very happy friendships with her peers. She has come on in leaps and bounds and is learning new things every day. Beautiful crafts, baking, stories, role play and singing. Thank you Abbeydale Cottage Nursery and all your staff. We think you're brilliant!
Abbeydale cottage nursery is a wonderful nursery with kind and caring staff. They were only to pleased to offer my daughter a place who has learning difficulties. She has now started school and all their skilled and hard work really prepared her for the transition. Many thanks highly recommend
My son has been here for 9 months now and I'm really happy with it. The staff are friendly and keen and the facilities excellent. With work we need the long hours and the 7 am drop off is essential. I really appreciate the tapestry notification system where I get emailed photos of him during his days there. It's uplifting to see him happy and active there. The nursery has been very flexible with my shifts and the staff make big efforts to make the days stimulating and fun. I'd have no hesitation to recommend this nursery.
I was given a tour round with my 1yr old granddaughter last week. I was really impressed. I like the movement of activities within each classroom; a quiet reading corner with big comfy bean bags; miniature kitchen laid out for role play; the indoor play area with covered slide and lots more to mention. All very professional, clean, warm and friendly. Good location too. Well done to all for providing a superb facility for our little treasures!
I am so glad we chose this nursery. Our main reason for choosing it was proximity to us and it is one of the few nurseries in Sheffield that is open from 7am to 7pm, which is essential for the long hours we work.
My daughter has settled in well, thanks to the friendly, caring and well-qualified staff.
Her day is filled with fun activities and she always comes home happy (and well-fed!)
As an added bonus, it is purpose-built with big colourful rooms. Each room is well designed and has a sleeping area. There are outdoor and indoor play areas, so children can play regardless of what the weather is like, although they do try to get them outside whenever possible.
There are so many good things about this nursery, but their brilliant staff are the main asset.
Our daughter is well-cared for and we couldn't be any happier.
Couldn't be happier with my choice of nursery. The facilities are fantastic and my daughter loves the staff. She always comes home tuckered out after having a fun filled morning. She has developed so much in the few short weeks she has been attending.
This nursery is purpose built, designed and created perfectly for children. I didn't hesitate to book my son a place here. His first day was filled with giggles and lots of play. He has settled in easily, with the help of fantastic staff and toys, activities and rooms that make me want to sit down and play in. What a fantastic place, I am never concerned and have utter faith my boy is happy, enjoying himself and being looked after.
What a fantastic nursery...such a great job done! I would like to wish Jodi and Amy all the best! (Just for the record...If I have babies I will DEFINATELY be sending them here) well done guys xx
Had my first visit to ACN earlier today and the place looks fantastic. The imaginative, purpose built play areas set this nursery apart. Well done to all involved.
Went to the open day today. The place looks fantastic. Staff were enthusiastic and knowledgable. The indoor play was in a different league to other nurseries I've seen. Everything seems to have been built with children's development in mind
We had a quick tour today and it is above and beyond any nursery I have seen or that my children have been to before. My little girl Florence can't wait to start, she loves the ball pools and the big slide makes it like a mini play centre - we will struggle getting her to come home! X
My little girl is 8 month old and has been coming to nursery for a month now and I can't fault it! The staff all work to high standards and are very very friendly. My baby is given the best possible care I could wish for. I love the tapestry and the fact I get a picture of my little girl everyday day she's in nursery. Well done ladies! Me and my baby love it here!
Wish you both all the best! I certainly wouldn't trust anyone else, Amy was great with my little boy Ben and would recommend them to anyone!!!!
Good luck to my gorgeous cousins in your new business! It's a shame I don't live closer, if I did then I wouldn't hesitate to have Lylah at your nursery 🙂 xxx
